Gemini IV Capsule signed by James McDivitt
Model Description

Gemini IV was the second manned space flight in NASA's Project Gemini, occurring in June 1965. Astronauts James McDivitt and Edward White circled the Earth 66 times in four days, making it the first US flight to approach the five-day flight of the Soviet Vostok 5. The mission also had the first space walk by an American, during which White floated free outside the spacecraft, tethered to it, for approximately 20 minutes. Both of these accomplishments helped the United States overcome the Soviet Union's early lead in the Space Race.

This model capsule is personally signed by Astronaut James McDivitt. McDivitt was selected as an astronaut by NASA in September 1962 as part of Astronaut Group 2. He was chosen as Command Pilot of Gemini IV, becoming the first US astronaut to command his first spaceflight.

McDivitt was awarded two NASA Distinguished Service Medals; NASA Exceptional Service Medal; two Air Force Distinguished Service Medals; four Distinguished Flying Crosses; five Air Medals; the Chong Moo Medal from South Korea; the USAF Air Force Systems Command Aerospace Primus Award; the Arnold Air Society JFK Trophy; the Sword of Loyola; the Michigan Wolverine Frontiersman Award; and USAF Astronaut Wings. He became Apollo Spacecraft Manager before resigning from NASA and the Air Force in 1972.

This signed capsule will have these other inclusions: specialized packaging : a Museum Quality Case, a Signature Plate, and a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).
