BT-13 Valiant
Model Description

The collectible model BT-13 Valiant "Vibrator" represents one of the Army Air Forces training aircraft of World War II, a “step-up” trainer from primary flight training. Painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail, this 1/30 scale model BT-13 Valiant "Vibrator" makes a great gift for any aviation enthusiast or history buff.

The BT-13 Valiant required more of its student pilots – they had to operate its two-position prop; use two-way radio communications and operate its flaps. It was also faster and more powerful than the PT-19 or other primary trainers.

The BT-13 first flew in March 1939, with service deliveries beginning in 1940. More than 7,000 were built. In service, the aircraft was dubbed the “Vultee Vibrator” because it shook violently as it approached a stall. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial, the Valiant was capable of 180 mph, with a range of 725 miles.

The BT-13 also served as a Navy trainer, the SNV.
